Lady Bunny's Wigstock
Wednesday September 7, 2005
A boisterous crowd of 15,000 turned up to cheer the demented divas of Wigstock, the annual drag festival which celebrated it's 20th anniversary. Crowd favorites included impressionist extraordinaire Jimmy James as Betty Davis, former Miss Continental Candis Cayne, gospel belter Sade Pendarvis and Deee-Lite's Lady Miss Kier debuting new music with a powerful anti-war message as her dancers were shot down (with sound effects) one by one. Lady Bunny, in sensible heels due to a broken toe ("I was out riding horses with Madonna"), kept the crowd in stitches and managed to squeeze in 5 costume changes and an array of enormous coiffures into the 2 hour set.
