Gay Men and Bareback Sex

We've all heard the nagging voice in our head telling us to practice safe sex at every opportunity. So why do some gay men continue to have bareback sex? Some researchers blame the apathy over HIV transmission- which despite perceptions, is increasing right along with the number of new HIV cases. Perhaps the onslaught of better life-prolonging medications or less media hype is at fault. Some feel HIV is no longer the threat it once was. Unfortunately, this is a false perception. The virus is still alive and doing well, toping 1 million American HIV cases and countless worldwide infections in June of 2005. Is the spontaneity and increased pleasure of bareback sex worth the possible consequences?
