In earlier reports by Reuters UK, Reverend Graham Taylor, a former Anglican priest and the author of the best selling novel "Shadowmancer", accused Harry Potter of being gay and called Rowling's villain characters wimps during a talk with 12-year-old London students. As quoted on CNN.com, Taylor said, "As for Harry Potter, well, he's not the only gay in the village." The Reverend was immediately asked to leave the school. School officials later stated, "The remarks that were made were thought by the staff to be offensive and were well below the standards that we expect of responsible and thoughtful adults working in our school."
Reverend Taylor claimed the comment was a joke, but as Harry Potter knows, some evil is no laughing matter. In a later correction, Reuters UK withdrew the report about gay comments from Taylor and reported that he was fired for swearing.
