Today in Gay History: Stonewall Riots

Tuesday June 27, 2006
On June 27, 1969, New York's Greenwich Village saw the beginning of the gay rights movement. Gay bar patrons fed up with harassment from police began a riot, which is known today as the Stonewall Riots.
