Review: Norelco Bodygroom Shaver Just for Men

Friday December 22, 2006
Men care about their appearance these days. Whether it's a by-product of magazine and billboard ads featuring male models with perfect biceps or the gay man's influence on self-image, men everywhere are taking their personal appearances seriously.

I'm amazed at the number of beauty and self-grooming products on the shelves now- much more than just a few years ago. I'm also amazed at how many men (gay and straight) visit nail salons regularly for manicures and pedicures.

Typically gay men are associated with taking great care of their outside appearance, but even a straight friend of mine admitted that between his moisturizers, exfoliates, tweezers, colognes and varying lotions, his products take up more room than his girlfriend's. Men are taking their grooming seriously and the market has responded.

Managing body hair is no exception. Some guys like it smooth, while others just prefer to manage their fur coats. The only problems are those hard to reach personal areas and the curves that make shaving with a traditional razor painfully risky, if not impossible. Usually, these comfort and safety considerations are given only to women, which is why I was excited to get my hands on the new Norelco Bodygroom.

It's made exclusively for men who want trim and shave all "bodyzones", as they call them, including the chest, abs, underarms, groin area, legs, back and shoulders. Some of those areas I always avoided because of the potential danger with one slip-up of a traditional razor. But now Norelco promises a solution to this male grooming problem. It was my duty, representing all the manscapers out there, to put this shaver to the test.

Let's see if this miracle shaver is indeed the savior of male body grooming. Here's my review of the Norelco Bodygroom.

The foil heads can be purchased on Amazon for 9.99 for three of them, but I go through them like potato chips, because they tear so easily.

The product works great when the foil is intact, but the foil is the Achilles heel of this product.

It does an AMAZING job of shaving your head daily if you like to buzz your scalp very close. It’s like using an eraser on your head.
It works very fast. WAY BETTER THAN REGULAR CLIPPERS. I know it’s not meant for the scalp, but that’s how I use it primarily. The foil also tears even when you just use it for body shaving. (I use a separate foil head for that, and then that ends up tearing, also.)

I too go through the foils quickly but despite that I love my Norelco bodygroom shaver and I would recommend it to anyone.
