Jazz enthusiast and Gay Life reader, Henry Fearnot, explores the life Billy Strayhorn—one of the greatest jazz musicians of all time. This gem was Duke Ellington's confidant and muse. The pair collaborated on such timeless standards as "Take the A Train," "Something to Live For" and the ultimate lounge ballad, "Lush Life." Tragically, Stayhorn never recieved his deserved acclaim because of his decision to live as an openly gay man in a very homophobic and exclusive scene.
