Taking Love As It Comes
Monday November 26, 2007
Love knows no boundaries; we create our own, just like all the other little boxes we contruct in our lives. Initial attractions are physical in most cases, emotional in others, and even spiritual to some. Often our attractions can't be explained, they simply exist: a preference for small noses or bright brown eyes or quirky laughs or an affinity for Hamlet or an obsession with Sex and the City... Other attractions sneak up on us like cupid himself. How often in your life have you gone out with someone that doesn't quite fit your ideal or usual type? Is he much older than your usual taste, a different race, religion or body type? Did you (or would you) go for the romance despite any social stigmas surrounding your relationship? Social whispers have a tendency to ignore the possibility that exist within the insular magic of real and true love and not within the confines of tea-spilling gossip.
Are you willing to accept love as it comes or must that love come in the perfect social package? What's your story?

I am a 38 yr old mixed Latino gay guy. I recently met a 19 yr old gay Latino guy. I initially said something to him to brush him off, thinking he was too young for me but he didn’t budge. He was nice, cool and collected. He pursued me. So, I’m giving this a chance to happen. We get along just fine. We have many of the same basic needs/wants in finding a partner. I was surprised at first, thinking that 19 years is too much of a difference in age but I shruged this off because he seems to be sincerely interested in me. Time will tell and with two open minds we have a certain chance to make something real out of it. I could even fall in love with him if he keeps being as unique as he seems to be so far. Two for the road, as they say.
