Noah's Arc Movie Rumors Confirmed

Friday February 15, 2008
Actors Christian Vincent, Rodney Chester, Doug Spearman and Darryl StephensMTV's gay flagship LOGO announced today that its series Noah's Arc, which was canceled after two seasons, is set for the big screen. The movie, named Noah's Arc: Jumping the Broom, will pick up where the series left off. According to Reuters, the popular Darryl Stephens, Doug Spearman, Rodney Chester and Christian Vincent will star with Patrik-Ian Polk as Director. No word yet on fave Jensen Atwood. The distribution and release date of the film have yet to be announced, either.

What's Noah's Arc About?
Dubbed as Sex and the City meets Soul Food, LOGO's Noah's Arc is about four African-American friends and their journey's through life in L.A. They struggle through the complexities of love, relationships and African-American gay life.

Why a film like Noah's Arc is important?
Image is everything in entertainment. Image has also been the bane of our gay existence. Many of the misconceptions and generalizations about gay men, especially gay men of color, are rooted in the images portrayed in mass media. At a minimum, Noah's Arc represents a medley of personalities, mannerisms, ideals, looks and expressions of gay black men, which is more in line with reality than the standard portrayal of the gay man of color as overly boisterous and effeminate.

Is Noah's Arc's image spread all encompassing? "Hardly," as one viewer who asked to remain anonymous pointed out. "All of the Hispanic characters are either HIV positive or servants."

Agreed, the character development has room to grow and will hopefully be expanded in the screen version; but the concept and the commitment by a media powerhouse to represent gay men of color as more than thematic jesters may aide in the quest for a new, more affirmative, more powerful, more self-actualized, more self-confident image of gay African-American and Hispanic men.

The developers of Noah's Arc: Jumping the Broom have an opportunity to draw a real (and more complete) image of life as a gay man of color. Lets just hope they won't be preaching to the choir.

At first, I didn’t like this show because the acting was not great. But, on enight I watched a marathon of the entire second season and began to like the characters more once I was invested. It’s worth giving it a shot.

YYYYYEEEEEESSSSS! This is what I don’t understand, how can Logo cancel the #1 rated show at that time? It was WWWWAAAAYYYY better than Queer As (white)Folk! The men were HOTTER and the plot was WWWAAAAYYYY better. Now, Logo is trying to sell on some crap called Dante’s Cove! ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz! Bad acting + so-so looking men = No watch or support from me! BRING ON the Noah’s Arc Movie and BRING THE SERIES BACK!

I can’t wait for this movie! I think it’s unfair that we fans had to wait 2 years for an conclusion to the season two cliffhanger! And please bring the series back with new episodes! Give me a reason to watch Logo again!!

I just stumbled across this article! I am soooo happy that the movie is being made. I agree that as much as the movie is great, the series was great as well. As a Black gay man in Los Angeles, CA, the show provided an alternative perspective to gay life. Given that we’re beat over the head repeatedly with White gay perspectives. I am extremely excited about the movie. Yeah!

to black men like myself noah’s arc is more than a t.v. show. it’s the way of life that we have adapted into our lives. the tears, the laughs, everything about the show is what i would want in my life. the show is truly the only reason why i started warching logo. and then they want to up and go and cancel the #1 show at the time. i guess people these days cant keep a dominant black show on t.v. especially a gay one. the world needs to accept everyone for who they are i always say live and let live. you know what logo can kiss my ass because its channel about gay, lesbean, bisexual, and transgender people no matter what color. i believe with all my heart that noah’s arc was cancel because of the black thing. but i know that i will support my black brothers when this movie comes out. and to that hoe who left that one comment and you know who you are. why are you leaving comments about a gay movie? how do you know about the movie if you, youself havent been watching it? it hoes like you scared about what others think instead of living your life. i hope you see the light boyfriend before its too late for you.

with love to you all, except LOGO.

I thought this show was cool and i love the acting, setting, sceen everyone that played a part in it.It hurt to see a show u begin to look up to as a gay black man get cancel.Putting a movie out doesn’t excuse the fact of cancelling a really good series so if any of u directors is smart over there just bring the damn show back obviously fans like me and many many more like it so much that we all want to continue seeing it.Also it might just help logo rating go up again cause there really isn’t any piont of watching it without this show. Thank u

I am a huge fan of Noah’s Arc only after two weeks. I had never seen or heard of the show. I just happened to run into it one sunday night thinking that I would be watching Soul Food on BetJ. The first episode I thought was really funny, not because of it’s comedy but because it freaked me out to see men kissing so blatantly on television. Don’t get me wrong, I am in no way homophobic as a matter of fact, my best friend is a lesbian and I have no problem with who she is, I just had never seen that sort of interaction between men. By the second episode, I was in love with the characters and the bond that they had as friends. It was very refreshing to know see that someone genuinely had your back. After about the third episode (watching a marathon), this series had to be a part of my personal collection. I went on the internet to see if it was for sale anywhere and it was but I was quite disappointed to see that the episodes were only 22 minutes long and it had been canceled after only two seasons. I was able to catch the marathon of season 2 and now I am hooked. I bought them off of the internet and I can’t wait until they arrive. This movie restored my faith in romance (Go Noah)and friendship. It was refreshing to see that gay men could be confortable in their own skin. I think the second season had more depth with all of the elements for each character. I just wish it had not been canceled. Will definitely by Noah’s Arc: Jumping the Broom

Bring back “Noah’s Arc” the TV show. This was the most entertaining show on television. We’re bombarded by nonsensical reality shows. It was great having a show with a solid and unique premise, intelligent stories, and an attractive cast of color.

I’m so glad the movie has been confirmed and seeing as it’s supposed to be out this year, I’m excited to see everything come to fruition.

(19) Dana T says:

Noah’s Arc was such a great show. For me it became the visual to a series of books from a few different authors like E. Lynn Harris and James Hardy.
In my opinion, B Boy Blues should have been made into a movie a long time ago.

That Dante’s Cove series sucks!! I mean, MAJORLY SUCKS! I am really over the soft porn that they try to promote with subtlety. It isn’t working.
Noah’s Arc brought pride to a group of people who most would want to not know about or if they knew, forget about. This show was the gay equivalent to Sex In The City. In fact, I got a few of my girlfriends who were hook on S.I.T.C. hooked on Noah’s Arc.
Logo, your executives should be ashamed for taking this show off the air but I will give you props for making a movie of it.
I can’t wait to see it!

I just happen 2 see Noahs Arc on t.v. 1 night while I was flipping thru channels and I loved what I saw it was only 1 episode and I never saw it again. I agree with everyone Logo needs 2 bring that show back as soon as possible,I’m not gay at all I am happily married with 6 children but I love these type of shows gay people are no more different than us people need 2 start to realize that, and when the movie comes out I will be supporting it. OH the mean are fine as hell gay or not. LOGO PLEASE PLEASE BRING THE SHOW BACK,I like to watch Logo but it truly is lame without NOAH’S ARC.

It was love at first sight!! I have watched the show since it first aired and currently DVR the reruns for my own sentimental pleasures. I am a happily married, mother of three and can identify with Noah, Ricky, Alex, and Chance. The acting is on point, the fashions are fierce, and the storyline is realistic. I must say that I am disappointed that the movie will not be shown in Baltimore, however, I will travel to D.C. to see the show!!!! Peace & Blessings

(28) Smile :-) says:

I love the show. I did not see it in season, however I have watched both seasons on DVD. In the beginning it was a little hard for me to watch, however once I got past the sensual scenes and into the story line itself I WAS HOOKED! I am another supporter of the show who is very upset about the limited viewing of the movie. I have checked online so many times to see if the movie will be here in FT. Laud or nearby…Miami or Palm Bch and I have found nothing. I am very suprised because the gay/lesbian community has really grown in So. Fla and also considering Broke Back Mountain was in the theater I was sure I would be able to see it in at least 1 theater. However that is the difference between black/white Hollywood.

If anyone can provide information of a Florida viewing please leave a comment. Depending on where I just might be willing to travel.

GREAT SERIES. CANNOT FIND A THEATER IN DENVER AREA THAT IS SHOWING IT. GAY AND/OR BLACK DISCRIMINATION?
WHY DOESN’T LOGO RENT THE SERIES TO A STRAIGHT{?} CABLE STATION. I THINK THERE ARE PEOPLE (NON-BIGOT)IN THE MAINSTREAM THAT WOULD WATCH IT. MAYBE, CBS LATE NITE. SAME WITH QUEER AS FOLK.

(30) Ann says:

I saw the movie here in Seattle, and thought it was great. I am straight and my ex sister-in-law ran across LOGO early this year, and called me to come over and watch Noah’s Arc. She never watches gay shows, but she loved it, I loved it. We both would copy “Alex” and say “hey gir”. Just funny. It wasn’t until I went on the internet to find out about the show to see why it only came on at certain times and so late and was shocked to find out it had been off over a year. WHY? That show broke a stereotype my sister-in-law had, it was done in good taste. yeah, the acting was a little shakey maybe except for Christian Vincent and one or 2 other actors. the cable station FX is borderline rated “R” and Noah’s Arc can go to that station.

I hated the movie was over, plus the fact Seattle only had a one time showing, that was because of the Gay & Lesbian film festival they had hear. So, whoever could come last Saturday, just missed it and will have to wait for the DVD in December or fly down to LA on Oct. 24 for the premiere. I hope the movie sells out – wouldn’t that be a shock for Hollywood. I just hope they bring back a 3rd season if not LOGO, somewhere else. I don’t even watch LOGO anymore. I rented all the Noah’s Arc shows, so I’ve seen them all. They can bump Queer As Folks, and that other show on the other gay station I can’t get “Dante’s Cove”. I rented one dvd, and mailed it back to Netflix ASAP – horrible. THAT show is borderline porn. Noah’ Arc is WAY WAY more classy than that.

WHEN I COMPARE THE OFFERINGS ON LOGO, WHY WOULD THEY GET RID OF THE BEST SERIES THEY HAD GOING -
NOAH’S ARC.
AS A WHITE STRAIGHT MALE WHO IS OPEN TO ALL VENUES, I AM SURPRISED RACISM LIFTED ITS UGLY HEAD AGAIN AND HAS DENIED THE PUBLIC OF A RARE GEM.
SHAME ON YOU LOGO, I THOUGHT YOU WERE MAVERICK TV, YET IN REALITY YOU ARE JUST ANOTHER CHIP OFF THE OLD LOG.

REDEEM YOURSELF AND BRING ON SEASON THREE!!!!!

Logo is not the same w/o Noah’s Arc. The more I watched the series, the more I began to understand the lifestyle. I am a straight, black, christian female. While channel surfing I never thought to slow down long enough to notice the Logo channel. But one night I did, and I am so upset that the series is no longer on. I wrote my dish network and told them if I couldn’t get the Logo channel I would no longer do business with them. And now, I don’t even watch Logo. Bummer

I loved the show on LOGOS. As a female, I found the characters quite enjoyable and though I loved the Noah character, I just felll in love with Alex. His humor is what kept me laughing all the time and I loved it. I drove over to Washington DC just to check out the movie because it was the closest theater and it was well worth the trip. LOGOS needs to bring back the series or keep the movies coming. I cant believe that all it was work was two seasons. Its the only thing on LOGOS I ever watched.

I love this show, I will never forgive Logo for not bringing season 3-I have already bought everything Seasons 1/2 and the Movie. I do not look at the Logo channel anymore-I love the chemistry between Noah and Wade. Has anyone viewed the Webisodes on the tapes- If they are for real and you listen carefully and read between the lines there is something seriously funny going on between Jensen and Darryl in real life. Either 2 scorned lovers or someone is angry with the other. Darryl has nothing but negative comments about Jensen except for 1 time he stated something nice. Whats the T?
