Sen. Dennis Damon has introduced a bill Wednesday to legalize same-sex marriage in Maine. According to reports, Sen. Damon was met with a standing ovation in the Augusta Civic Center where the public hearing was held. The bill has 60 co-sponsors. Thus far, Gov. John Baldacci has stated that he is keeping an open mind, despite previous opposition. At the public hearing, Sen. Damon was quoted by the AP as saying the measure recognizes the worth of every man and woman in Maine.
