A Weekend At The Roxbury

Thursday August 20, 2009
If you're looking to get away on a last-minute summer vacation, you might want to sneak off to the Catskills in upstate New York, specifically the Roxbury Motel in Roxbury, New York.

"While the town of Roxbury is dull and sleepy," About.com Homeymoons Guide Susan Breslow Sardone reviews. "The motel is anything but."

With rooms inspired by pop culture of the 1960s and 1970s and a spa, the motel is a stand alone in an otherwise bland area, so don't expect a 1990s style party town. But if you're looking to trade in some urban splendor for a quiet getaway, the Roxbury is your ticket.

The gay-owned and operated motel is only a few hours drive from Manhattan, SW of Albany and NW of Woodstock, with stops to the wineries of the Finger Lakes not far off course from the South. Make a weekend of it, either solo or with your guy.
