Over The Weekend: Anti-Gay Marriagers Have More Money Than You Think

By , About.com GuideAugust 29, 2009

Follow me on:

A report out of Gayapolis, sourced from the Des Moines Register, says National Organization for Marriage (NOM), an anti-gay marriage group, has outspent both Iowa State House candidates on television ads during the state's House race—$86,080, compared to $42,882 for Democratic candidate Curt Hanson and $63,101 for GOPer Stephen Burgmeier.

And, how did NOM spend their ad money? Spots in support of Stephen Burgmeier. Talk about double dipping! I need to look into it this further, but Burgmeier opposes the unions of you and me.

Of further note: NOM isn't even an Iowa-based organization. They hail from New Jersey.

This is an interesting story to follow because now I'm curious about where NOM gets its money. Thanks, Gayapolis!

First of all I want to say excellent blog! I had a quick
question that I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts before writing. I have had a difficult time clearing my mind in getting my ideas out. I truly do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or hints? Kudos!
