This week Facebook made the biggest announcement since the launch of it's IPO: Same-sex couples now get same-sex icons to go along with their relationship statuses.
Facebook has never stopped users from tagging people from the same sex as being "Married to" or "In a Relationship with," but digital couples were forced to use traditional icons of a man and a woman at the alter.
Now, boyfriends, partners, husbands and wives, alike, get icons of either two men or two women to accompany their statuses.
The news isn't as impressive to out couples as it is to partners that don't want to conform to gender labels.
In 2011, Facebook added "In a domestic partnership" and "In a civil union" to its relationship statuses.
How likely are you to tag your boyfriend, husband or partner on Facebook? If you're single and looking, would you tag a future boyfriend? And, do the new icons make a difference?
