Rupert Everett, the towering 6'4" out superstar, is best known for his role as George Downs in My Best Friend's Wedding and Prince Charming in Shrek the Third, says gay fatherhood is a horrible idea and that despite being openly gay he's not a part of the "gay community."
Everett, 53, told Sunday Times Magazine that he "wishes I had a wife and kids" and that he agrees with his mother that "children need a father and a mother." He went on to say that he "can't think of anything worse than being brought up by two gay dads."
His comments may be perplexing since he's an out actor, but he's never been shy about his opinion on being openly gay in entertainment. In 2009 he advised any actor that wanted a career to stay in the closet.
Everett's comments aren't in fashion with majority of gay men and women today, which no doubt contributes to his feelings about being an outsider of the gay community. Is he alone? Do you have to agree with same-sex parents and being openly gay in order to be an official member of the "community"?
