"In a letter addressed to Chicago Alderman Joe Moreno and signed by Chick-fil-A's Senior Director of Real Estate, it states, 'The WinShape Foundations is now taking a much closer look at the organizations it considers helping, and in that process will remain true to its stated philosophy of not supporting organizations with political agendas.' In meetings the company executives clarified that they will no longer give to anti-gay organizations, such as Focus on the Family and the National Organization for Marriage."
This is an excerpt from a statement released by Illinois advocacy group The Civil Rights Agenda (TCRA) confirming that Chick-fil-A will stop donating money to anti-gay organizations. Here's the complete statement.
The press release also states that Chick-fil-A has issued an internal memo to franchisees and stakeholders that states that as a company, they will "treat every person with honor, dignity and respect-regardless of their beliefs, race, creed, sexual orientation and gender" and that their "intent is not to engage in political or social debates."
Earlier this summer Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy started a media and customer frenzy after openly admitting that his company's foundation did not support gay marriage. In response a number of boycotts, including a kiss in, were organized in protest. Opponents of gay rights also showed vocal support for the fast food chain, inflaming a national debate over corporate responsibility to inclusion and diversity.

They want your money, pure and simple. While I’m glad they’ve done an about face, I know that it’s not sincere, and I for one, will not be patronizing them!
I agree, Jim Butler.
There is no way that they [Winshape] had no clue what they were donating to, as Dan Cathy himself stated “guilty as charged”.
What happened instead, is that they really and truly believed the lies such organizations spread about how they speak for a “clear majority” of Americans.
Such might have been true in the 70s and 80s, maybe even into the early 90s.
It isn’t true anymore.
As such, Dan Cathy is as much victim as victimizer, since he honestly believed he was totally safe in his reprehensible actions.
I do not trust him or “Winshape”.
I do not trust them to not find another method of donating that won’t be easily discovered.
I’m also certain that the “no political groups” line was mentioned specifically to avoid donating to pro-GLBT groups to an extent that would erase the vile stain upon him and/or his company.
He has not done right by the GLBT community as of yet, no does he appear to be planning to do so.
I say the boycott should remain until he has donated twice the amount to GLBT charities.
None of this is true. Chick-fil-A released an official statement saying they would continue to donate to various causes that fall within their Christian beliefs, including those that support marriage (meaning “traditional” marriage, of course). Then they go on to contradict themselves by saying they will not get involved in politics or social issues. Ummm …
So, no, you will not be seeing a rainbow flag flying at Chick-fil-A anytime soon. Here’s the quote from the official statement:
“Part of our corporate commitment is to be responsible stewards of all that God has entrusted to us. Chick-fil-A’s giving heritage is focused on programs that educate youth, strengthen families and enrich marriages, and support communities. We will continue to focus our giving in those areas. Our intent is not to support political or social agendas.”
So, once again, they would donate food or money to a marriage retreat, as long as it doesn’t condone same-sex marriage. Nothing has changed, but like Target, they want those gay dollars back in the bank account and from what I’ve seen since the first unofficial announcement, they all went flocking back there today to clog their arteries and contribute to their own discrimination.
Get your facts correct…..this is all a lie….they continue to support anti-gay groups….why would you believe these people?
Wait a min here…..they have NOT stopped giving money to anti gay groups YET! They have not shown proof of that to date. So Don’t rush down and order food from the bigoted owned company yet. Wait until they prove that this is to be true. Other new groups are saying this, not just me. Check them out first before you go and say this sort of thing about them. OFB

let me pull the crap from this and give you the truth: we will be “responsible stewards” to someone we cant prove exists but since he is our god he MUST be your god too. our heritage is focused on programs that deny the facts to the youth and spreads insidious lies, deny others the BASIC HUMAN RIGHT to have a family, deny people the BASIC HUMAN RIGHT to marry those they love and to be happy first class human beings instead of living inferior to the hetero community, and to totally cut off an entirte segment of the population from rights that shouldnt even be up for question in a rational thinking world unconstrained by religion and bigotry. we will continue to focus our support to hating you because you are different. we will not support political or social agendas except those that help us out and screw over a certain amount of the population.
f*ck you Cathy.
