Upset over a 9-0 loss to the San Francisco Giants in the National League championship game, some St. Louis Cardinals fans decided that their frustrations were best taken out on Twitter, and in a homophobic way.

Fans took to the social network with a barrage of anti-gay and anti-AIDS tweets, describing the city as AIDS-ridden and full of "homos." NBC Bay Area reports one fan as saying the loss was "another AIDS epidemic."

Baseball's Best Fans has compiled a nice list of the most outrageous. A disturbing preview:

@Brett_Mahan: Detroit Tiger Fans: If you travel to San Fran to catch a game be careful. Don't leave your beer. #rufies #faggots #HIV

@Jay_inthe_Eye: @BikeMath and San Fran is still the oasis for fruitcakes everywhere. Get a pennant and aids all in the same trip

And the ever classy tweet from @treysheezy, which gets the award for the most asterisks necessary in one blog post:

"The cardinals f**king blew it like god d**n f**k sh*t c*nt a** d**k b****h p***y n****a f**k f**k f**k. Like how can you blow it that bad f**k"
