The word “promiscuous” is so judgmental and out-dated. It’s original definition was to reflect sexual activity done outside of marriage. Most of the U.S. still doesn’t permit same-sex marriage, so by that definition alone most of us would be deemed promiscuous any time we had any sex at all.
We are all entitled to our sex lives and if one person decides to be highly active while another person prefers to be less so, the more active one isn’t “promiscuous” they are both just living the life they have chosen.
BT: That wins the prize for convoluted self-justification of sluttacious behavior.
Actually BT, the person who is more active IS promiscuous. That is what promiscuous means. Relating to that fact as negative is purely optional. You can have a lot of sex and still be a good, happy person. Promiscuity is neither good or bad – people only view it as such
If the headline writer had meant “more active” he/she would have said so (that is three syllables instead of four within the same word). Instead, he/she used “promiscuous” which carries with it a pejorative aspect (I.e. shame, disappointment, religious disapproval). This is a disappointing article, but taken lightly, we all know what it means and it’s all good.
