It truly shows progress when we are able to celebrate the achievements of not a few, but 100 gay individuals and their allies, who through their everyday lives, talents, causes and campaigns pave the way for the gay community. They prove to the rest of the world that gays are significant contributors to all of society and their accomplishments deserve recognition.
Each year OUT magazine, a gay and lesbian general interest publication, celebrates these outstanding individuals, tagged the OUT100, through a feature issue and a special party/reception.
A few recipients of the 2002 OUT100 awards were honorees Malcolm Gets, Aneesa Ferreira, Peter Som, Stephen Byckiewicz & Bob MacLeod, Arthur Korant & Stephanie Blackwood, Adam Haslett, Emil Wilbekin, and Charles Ignacio.
