Are Gay Men Normal?

I thought I was normal until one calm Saturday. I started the day with normal activities. Nothing out of the ordinary- only activities any other person would do on any given Saturday, regardless of their sexuality. I had brunch with friends then made a trip to the pharmacy and laundromat. The last stop on my normal day of errands was to the barber shop. Little did I realize how that harmless trip would make me question my own self-worth and challenge my own existence.

I sat in the barber shop waiting amongst the men, women and children. They were all busy with their hurried lives. The man to the right of me studied a fashion magazine, while the woman to my left attended to her little boy. Suddenly, what I gathered to be the woman's second child entered the shop and sought the attention of the mother by pushing the young boy off of the chair in which he was sitting. "Don't touch me!" the little boy blared. I paid little attention as it seemed like a normal spat between siblings. However, the mother's response made me wonder if the only person not normal in the barber shop was me and possibly the little boy.
