Help For Gays in the Military: Servicemembers Legal Defense Network

By Ramon Johnson, About.com

What is The Servicemembers Legal Defense Network?:
The Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) is a national, non-profit legal services, watchdog and policy organization dedicated to ending discrimination against and harassment of military personnel affected by "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and related forms of intolerance.
How Does SLDN Help Gays in the Military?:
SLDN publishes The Survival Guide, a comprehensive resource explaining the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy in details as well as specifically who's affected by it and how gays can survive serving in the closet. SLDN also works with the courts, helping to restore dismissed gay military personnel and repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."
