Darieck Scott


Science fiction author Darieck Scott
Dr. Darieck Scott is the author of the speculative fiction novel Hex (2007), Traitor to the Race (1995), a novel about a gay interracial couples, and the editor of Best Black Gay Erotica (2004).

Dr. Scott is currently an Assistant Professor of African American Studies at University of California, Berkeley. He earned his Ph.D. in Modern Thought and Literature at Stanford University, and also has an M.A. in African American Studies and a J.D. from Yale. Before arriving at UC Berkeley he taught in the English departments of the University of Texas at Austin, and UC Santa Barbara.

Dr. Scott's academic and research interests include 20th century African American literature; creative writing; gender and sexuality studies; race and sexuality in fantasy, science fiction, and comic books.

In 2010, Dr. Darieck Scott joined fellow sci-fi author Cecilia Tan as guest of honor at the second annual OutlantaCon in Atlanta.
