"I can’t compare myself to Harvey Milk, but I’m glad that I am the first openly gay candidate to be elected for a public office in Poland," says Krystian Legierski after his November 21, 2010 Green Party election to the Warsaw City Council.

Legierski, an LGBT activist and club owner, was born April 22, 1978 in Koniakow, Poland. Since graduating from Warsaw University with a degree in Law and Administration, Legierski has been an active voice in the movement for LGBT equality in Poland, specifically joining the 2005 efforts to release Poland's ban on Warsaw's gay pride parade.

From October 2006 to November 2010, Legierski was co-host of Better Late Than Never, a radio program on Warsaw's TOK FM.

Legierski is the co-owner of Warsaw clubs Le Madame, Tomba-Tomba and M25.
