About Neil Patrick Harris:

Neil Patrick Harris was born on June 15, 1973 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Harris grew up in a small town called Ruidoso, New Mexico where he began acting at age four. He attended La Cueva High School, the same school as Freddie Prinze Jr.

Neil Patrick Harris as Doogie:

Harris, the child of a lawyer and a writer, made his 1988 film debut in Purple People Eater and Clara's Heart, starring Whoopi Goldberg. Soon after, at the age of 16, he was cast as the lead character in the 1989 drama series Doogie Howser, M.D. where he played a teenage prodigy doctor. His role in the series led to a People's Choice Award for Favorite Male Performer in a New Series (1990) and a Golden Globe Nomination (1990). Doogie Howser, M.D. went off the air in 1993.

Life After Doogie:

Since his thrust into 1990s fame, Neil has appeared in Starship Troopers (1997), The Next Best Thing (2000), Undercover Brother (2002) and Harold Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004). He's also had spot roles in many sitcoms, namely Law and Order: Criminal Intent and Will & Grace. Neil's Broadway credits include concert performances of Sweeney Todd (2001), Proof in 2002 with Anne Heche, Cabaret (2003) and Assassins (2004), to name a few.

Neil's Emmy Nod:

Neil was nominated for for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards for his role in the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother.

Neil Patrick Harris Comes Out:

On November 2, 2006, Neil came out to People magazine, amid rumors of a relationship between him and co-star David Burtka.Harris told People, "The public eye has always been kind to me, and until recently I have been able to live a pretty normal life. Now it seems there is speculation and interest in my private life and relationships. So, rather than ignore those who choose to publish their opinions without actually talking to me, I am happy to dispel any rumors or misconceptions and am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest and feel most fortunate to be working with wonderful people in the business I love."
