Gay and Lesbian Couples Line Up on the First Day of Legal Same-Sex Marriages

Dozens of couples lined up outside the Moultrie Courthouse Building on March 3, 2010 to register for marriage licenses on the first day of legal registration for same-sex marriages in the District of Columbia.

The first marriages were performed on March 9, 2010. The District of Columbia has become the sixth in the nation to recognize same-sex marriage.
