Before You Listen to TWIST Gay Radio

By Ramon Johnson, About.com

What is TWIST?
TWIST is a nationally syndicated radio brand, featuring a weekly two-hour show called "Radio with a TWIST." Hosted by Dennis Hensley, Will Wikle and Melissa Carter, TWIST will feature music, celebrity interviews and entertainment reports, along with relationship and lifestyle experts, advice and news.

Why do we need gay radio?

As with gay exposure in any other media, such as gay tv, radio programming for GLBTQ audiences helps increase the public awareness and understanding of queer people. Gay radio also helps gay and gay-friendly businesses support each other and the greater community.

In addition to the marketplace benefits of gay radio, specials programming on topics like coming out issues, gay travel and relationship advice can help gay and lesbian people stay informed and better live their everyday lives.

Where can I hear TWIST?

TWIST, set to launch January 14, 2006, can be heard on Disney/ABC’s 95.5 WPLJ (New York), Clear Channel’s STAR 98.7 FM (Los Angeles), Infinity’s ALICE 97.3 FM (San Francisco), Susquehanna’s Q100.5 (Atlanta) and on the internet everywhere at AOL Radio.

Are there other gay radio brands?

There are several other gay radio brands online and on satellite radio. However, TWIST offers an opportunity to listen to gay programming without a subscription or as an alternative to streaming radio on your computer. Learn more about gay radio.
