here! Network's Vice President of Marketing & Publicity Josh Rosenzweig and Programming Manager Sara Logue (also known as the podcating duo
Josh and Sara) talk about Gene Kelly, beauty and brains and their plan to take down American Idol... maybe.
here! has you both all over the place: In the studio with your podcast, here! with Josh and Sara; on location at the Queer Media Conference with The World According to Josh and Sara; at The GLBT Expo; and in your spare time producing other shows for here! TV... Is there anything Josh and Sara won't do?
SL: Porn, but I cannot speak for Josh.
JR: I will pretty much do anything that does not entail heights or snakes.
Who's idea was it to team you guys up?
JR: It was Eric Feldman’s (here! TV's EVP of Programming) bright. He asked us to try it out more as an experiment and it just worked. Sara and I clicked. We have a blast goofing off together.
Who's the one person in the world you'd love to interview, but know you can't?
SL: Shakespeare!
JR: I would choose Gene Kelly, Noel Coward and Edie Sedgwick.
Sara, you seemed a little star struck during your interview with Martina Navratilova. Are you a closeted tennis fan or was it her hair?
SL: I don't know that I was star struck with Martina. I think I knew that Josh was really excited and was letting him have his moment with her. I think I was most star struck by Daphne Gottlieb and Diane DiMassa when they came in to talk about their graphic novel
Jokes and the Unconscious. I loved the book so much and was in awe in their presence. One of the great things about doing this podcast is that I get to ask authors questions I'd never be able to otherwise and that has been really amazing for me.
So, you two… Which one is the beauty and which the brains?
I think it is obvious!
There is a hotline for your podcast (212.920.2898, for interested readers out there). What's the craziest message you've ever received?
We get a wide range of messages. A lot about
Dante’s Cove. But the craziest had to have been from a obsessed fan who wanted to know if we had actually met
Charlie David and wanted to know every single detail as if we knew.
Are you still on a mission to take down American Idol? Would you change your mind if they offered you a guest judge spot?
JR: My beef with
American Idol is mostly with their attitudes about effeminate boys. They tend to make fun of them and that is just not appropriate. Look I love the Idol, I just think that the judges need to be more accepting of the alternative kids. So yes, I would take the job as judge in order to change that.
Have either of you ever done drag? If so, when and where?
JR: Well, I lived with a drag queen for 6 years (as a roommate) and worked with many many drags queens in film projects and plays that I directed. And the one time I did drag was in the LA production of the Theater Couture show
The Bad Weed 73. I played the double role of Leroy, the handyman, and Mrs. Daigle, the mother of the murdered child. My drag name is/was Beth Israel.
What does the future hold for Josh & Sara?
Fame, Fortune, and our own reality show... Not!
