Jorge Valencia was born April 21, 1963 in Lynwood, CA, but grew up in McAllen, Texas. In January 2007, he began his tenure as the Executive Director of The Point Foundation, an organization that provides financial support, professional guidance and a network of contacts for undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students.
Previously, Jorge Velencia served in the Clinton Administration as the Director of External Affairs for the U.S. Small Business Administration (1993–1996) and as the President and Executive Director of The Trevor Project from 2001 – 2006.
