"Whenever you are ready, come home and we'll love you until it doesn't hurt anymore," Pastor Joseph Tolton of Brooklyn-based Rehoboth Temple and a coalition of openly gay African-American spiritual leaders and professionals urged Pastor Donnie McClurkin.
The call came in a full-page ad response to Donnie McClurkin's latest anti-LGBT hate sermon, in which he called LGBT youth "broken and feminine." The Grammy-winning pastor also compared homosexuality to diabetes, "I don't eat sugar," he said "But it doesn't mean that I don't want sugar."
In his response, Pastor Tolton calls on those that share in McClurkin's rabid homophobia to "stop abusing" our LGBT brothers and sisters and "find new ways to talk about sex and sexuality."

McClurkin was nominated for a 2010 Grammy Award for the gospel song "Wait on the Lord" featuring Karen Clark Sheard.
Donnie McClurkin is one of those confused, conflicted, deeply wounded, now closeted, gay men who hates himself so much he now inflicts his pain on others. He needs not only our prayers, but serious therapy.
I know too many pastors with same sex secrets(SSS) . And yes, I’ve dated a few pastors, slept with a few and been in a few long-term monogamous relationships too.
I told a gay COGIC pastor to simply give up the pulpit because he’s so unhappy. He said, “I can’t – that’s all I know.” The relationship was relinquished cause he knew all about church but very little about himself. Today, he remains behind the pulpit – tormented.
That’s why Donnie’s message was useless; he caused more harm by pushing gay pastors deeper undercover (DL). They, hide behind the pulpit, first lady, and the word -not hoping God make them new again, but PRAYING not to get caught.
I know what I’m talking about!!! This ain’t speculation, or pontification – it’s conclusive, creditable, and confirmed.
I don’t understand ya’ll this is crazy why the church??? live like heathens outside the church. And if Pastor Donnie left that life amen. A man with a man is not normal and you know it I am praying for ya’ll…..yuk
LOL! Um, Mo, you are entitled to your opinion, but considering you are reading a GAY blog, what are you thinking? And, did you get promoted to God? I didn’t get that memo, so I do not think you are qualified to judge any of us and how we live our lives. You do not like to see two guys together, do not look. Back to Pastor McClurkin, as I have said before and I will say again, just because he has decided to stop sucking… engaging in sex with men, does not mean the rest of us are going to hell. Preach what God has called you to teach, love and tolerance. Stop throwing stones and act like a TRUE MAN OF GOD! Our teens are killing themselves at alarming rates because of non-sense like his. STOP IT!!! Let them live. You don’t agree with their life, so what. It is theirs to live their way. Tell them what you think without the hate and move on! If they listen and choose not to suck… engage in sex with members of the same sex, that is their choice. But do NOT badger them and cause them to retreat into their minds of confusion, unhappiness and despair. AGAIN, STOP IT MR. MCCLURKIN!!!
Do you know the flames of hail are burning waiting for you?
Do you know the Lord Jesus Christ is waiting for you to make the right decision?
Do you know you are counterfeits?
Do you know God wishes to create in you a real being in the image of his son Jesus Christ?
Do you know if you don’t change your course, you are going to regret every bed you slept for eternity?
Do you know the punishment of the backslider is heavier?
God is Love.
God is a consuming fire.
Don’t twist his word. Repent and be born again christians.
What ever happened to the shame of all of this and why do you think that there are those who still are shame faced about it? It is not because of people or what people say but, it’s because we were created in God’s image and therefore we know when we are in right standing with God and when we are not. If we remain in SIN no matter what the sin is we will be punished. I will not give any excuses because they were all nailed to the cross. God will never wink his eye at sin. REPENT AND BE SAVED AND HEALED.
If you believe in God then do the will of God according to his Holy Word. His word will never change and according to Leviticus 18:22 it is plain and simple that a 5 year would understand here is what is says: Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Please read the Holy Bible and live by the Word so that you can live this life abundantly as God has planned. Stop damming yourself because you cannot really be happy with going against who your Creator has made you. You are a man for one wife and visa versa.
If you don’t want to abide by the Word of God do not condemn the preacher who does. Pastor McClurkin is a living example how no one is born this way. We choose to live like this. We have been told all of our lives that you and be and do what you want when you follow your dreams. So, there you are doing what you want to do not what God wants you to do. So, if you think that you are bigger and better than God that’s on you but, as for me and my house we WILL SERVE THE LORD.
Now, I pray for you my brothers and sisters that you understand that there is a difference. Just the fact that everyone does not have the same sex should tell you something. I pray that God will open up your spiritual eyes to see and understand the truth of God’s Word and your heart to receive His Word and change your life to what God wants for you.
For those reading this who are STILL under the misconception that homosexuality is OK — please, get down on your knees and pray to Jesus for forgiveness.
Donnie is a truth-teller. You, Mr. Johnson, are a sexual vampire. You need to repent for your sins, before you bring more innocent young children into your life of perversion and confusion. This is the truth. Ignore it at your peril.

“Sexual vampire” That’s a new one. Going through a Twilight phase? It saddens me when the peace and love that’s so often spoken of in religious texts is reduced to such ignorance and hatred. What you preach is rhetoric. The fact is 33% percent of all teen suicides are LGBT teens who experience sadness and loneliness based on the same types of hurtful language and rejection that you speak of, sir. So, if there is blood on anyone’s hands, I ask what the real cause is?
Mathew-well said, I couldn’t have said it any better. Aside from that also,God is love, and he has called us to love, not hate anyone. So there is no hatred being propagated by Donnie preaching and speaking the truth,it is what it it is-TRUTH. I will hate noone, I will not condemn no one but the truth-I will stand on that to the end, God ordained marriage, sexual r/ships to be between a man and a woman and he longs and waits to be compassionate to anyone who thinks otherwise, he will not bend what he has said.
Well the word of God clearly states that the wages of sin is death. Satan made those kids feel good and then he destroyed their minds. He made them think that no one accepted them because of their sexuality. When in all actuality they were trying to stop them from going down the wrong path. “The thief cometh not but to steal, kill, and destroy!”
