California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Attorney General Jerry Brown will not be forced to defend Prop 8 in another setback for supporters of the anti-gay initiative.
A California court denied requests from anti-gay groups asking that Governor Schwarzenegger and Attorney General Brown be forced to appeal last month's ruling that overturned Prop 8.
The conservative groups wanted the state to defend Prop 8, because the groups themselves have no legal standing to appeal a district court decision.
