While the door to the gaming closet is opening for LGBT-identified gamers, some are not happy that new options to choose gay relationships is restricted to one, pay-to-play, planet in the popular Star Wars: The Old Republic.
The makers of Star Wars: The Old Republic announced that players will be able to enter into same-sex relationships in the new "Rise of the Hutt Cartel" expansion pack due Spring 2013. However, players are hesitant to fully embrace the move since "...the same sex romance will take place on a specific planet for now--Makeb--and you have to pay money to go there," says blog Kotaku. In statements, BioWare says the decision isn't political and that they remain neutral.
The progress isn't perfect, but it's progress. Star Wars: The Old Republic isn't the only game with gay romance options. Bethesda's Skyrim and BioWare's Mass Effect II and III games also allow same-sex romance.

You can also have same sex romance on the Xbox game Fable as well.
