What is HIV Vaccine Awareness Day?

May 18th is HIV Vaccine Awareness Day. HIV Vaccine Awareness Day was established to promote:
  • Research for a vaccine that prevents the transmission of the HIV virus.
  • Address the current challenges associated with HIV/AIDS.
  • Education about how preventative HIV vaccines can control the AIDS epidemic.
  • Unveil the upside-down AIDS ribbon as a symbol of progress, and recognize the need for education.
How You Can Recognize HIV Vaccine Awareness Day.

As a sign of solidarity and to show your support for a preventative HIV vaccine, on May 18th wear your red AIDS ribbon upside down to form a "V" for vaccine.
